What the US Senate and House Have Planned For Us.

Health Care, one of the most important topics in America today. Every time a new politician is voted into office, there is a need to reform health care." Reinventing the wheel" as we say. But, is removing Obama Care really what we need?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or whats know to a majority of Americans Obama Care which was put into law March 23, 2010, required all Americans to have some insurance coverage which in my opinion is a great thing. Having health coverage help saves thousand of dollars on medical bills. Combined with manufacturer coupons for a prescription, medical assistant websites and repayment plans that saves another hundred of dollars which is more money for families to do other important things.

Well, President Donald Trump recently stated in a tweet:

We should be incredibly worried. Here is a comparison of what is being drafted in both the House and Senate to replace Obama Care.

Obama Care

Positives

  • Supports Medicaid.

  • Guarantees coverage for preexisting conditions.

  • Requires insurance companies to covers essential benefits:Maternity (planned parenthood), Hospital Care, Prescription Drugs, and Mental Health.

  • Provides funding and reimbursement to women health care providers.

  • Provides Tax Subsidies due to the tax penalty if uninsured. Assist individuals based on: Age, Income, Community, and Rating.

  • Requires employers to provide insurance.

Negatives

  • Tax Penalty which charges $695 per adult and $347.50 per child (up to $2,085 for a family), or 2.5%of household income above the tax return filing threshold for your filing status – whichever is greater.

Obamacare may not be the number one health care bill put into law in our history, but it has saved so many American lives and money.

U.S. House Bill

(The American Health Care Act)

Positive

  • Removes the Obama Care Tax Penalty]

  • Insurance plans are more cheaper. Cheaper due to the insurance companies covering what they choose to.

Negatives

  • COB (Congressional Budget Office) estimates 23 million Americans will be uninsured by year 2026.

  • Cuts Medicaid funding and number of individuals covered.

  • Allows states to opt-out of the latter provision.

  • 30% Surcharge on individuals who allow their insurance to lapse.

  • Cuts Planned Parent Hood

  • Each state chooses what essential benefits to cover.

  • Does not require employers to provide insurance to their employees.

  • Provides tax subsidies only based on age.

U.S. Senate Bill

Positives

  • Provides Tax Subsidies to assist individuals based on: Age, Income, Community, and Rating.

Negatives

  • COB (Congressional Budget Office) estimates 22 million Americans will be uninsured by year 2026.

  • Insurers can provide skimpier coverage in states that get waivers for essential health benefits.

  • Each state chooses what essential benefits to cover.Cuts Planned Parent Hood.

  • Does not require employers to provide insurance.

As you can see, there are more negatives than positives for both the senate and house bills. In my opinion, instead of eliminating Obama Care improve upon it. Look at the data from the last seven years and improve in the areas that are lacking such as customer and patient satisfaction, a wider selection of health plans, simpler explanation of benefits, free sign-up assistance at the individuals convince, and more control and regulation against companies who mislead people.
